| Dunvegan is surrounded by history. The seat of MacLeod of MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle, is just ¾ mile away. The house itself is overseen by the Millenium Stone, marking the year 2000, yet a few miles North pre-historic subterranean dwellings can be found, (if you know what you are looking for). Brochs, duns and ruined settlements can be found all round the Dunvegan area.
There are a wide range of outdoor activities such as walking, climbing, canoeing, sailing, seal trips, horse trekking and lots, lots more. |

The local arts and crafts people supply the many small outlets that are scattered about, with wonderfully vibrant and original pieces, from fine homespun wools and silks to original design jumpers, fine art and design to chunky garden furniture and stained glass windows. There are several museums within a twenty minute drive of the house, including an original Black House in working order, piping centre, crofting museum and even a terrific toy museum.
